ATI just got the last driver of the year out the door, but already it has released an update. ATI Catalyst 9.12 hotfix comes with some pleasant news as improved performance in OpenGL games and with better OpenCL comes improved Eyefinity technology. The technology is now not just supported by single cards but also CrossFire configurations.

Up until now, AMD has only supported CrossFire Eyefinity with the Radeon HD 5970, but now it will also work when you pair up cards from the rest of the Radeon HD 5000 family. Far from all games work with Eyefinity when CrossFire configurations are used, but AMD is at least moving in the right direction.

Last but not least it has added support for sending audio over the DisplayPort connector, which could be pleasant news for those who have invested in a DisplayPort monitor with integrated speakers.
