First thing first - Hi all. My first one here. I can't for my life understand how I could miss out on this place. I'm on XS, TS, OCForum but this one I just registered at. Sorry for being late to the party.

Hello Kinc by the way, I saw you spent the weekend with Thomas. He's an old friend of me. We played together in our Battlefield clan. He worked at Dell then and did always show up with the most jammed case I ever saw. It just had to contain some strange stuff like perc cards and 15k rpm SCSI's. That man is a bit "extra". I hope he treated you well.

Back ON topic. I see you get some good speeds out of the "Unknown" and now I have a hard time to decide if to go with the XT or the XTX.
Does anyone know when th XTX is about to hit the market?
All I have seen is news about the XT but the "beast"? Has everyone forgot about it? When, where and how will we see it? Anyone?

PS here's another dealer with "known" card on display.

    Thomas was an excellent host

XTX is not anywhere near a launch today.

Well, I can inform you that we have a Swedish site as well, but then you'll miss out on the hardcore stuff our English-speaking members supply

    EDIT: Welcome

    Welcome.

I gotta jump in and praise Thomas as well, I just met him back at DreamHack last winter, but that didn't exactly stop him, if you catch my drift. Heck of a nice guy, too bad it's been a while since I last heard of him, hopefully he'll be at DHS as well.

    Welcome

Im sorry to sa that there wont be any faster R600 card then the HD 2900XT. Since ATI didnt know until to late that their 512bit interface and 1024bit ringbus did not work well with GDDR4. 1100MHz GDDR4 is about the same bandwidth as 830MHz GDDR3. The bandwidth at stock is over 100GB/s wich allready is more then enough so there is no need to worry about the bandwidth

We have to wait for some officall information on the 65nm R650 to see when and what AMD and ATI Radeon has planed for the future.

Still dont know what that unknown VGA might be But HD2900XT will cost between 3500 and 4000 sek if there is enough cards to go around.
It will cost more than 4500-5000 NOK

    Welcome!

You should really try shipping one in from Germany. They cost €350 at most there.

Excuse me for being badly informed but I just want to make sure that I will get the "right" card. Isn't there a 1024 MB version of the XT to come out soon also. I mean in the nearest month or so?
If you say that DDR3 is good enough I will trust you on that but I wanna make sure I don't go out and buy the 512 MB and a week later I can get the 1024 MB.
    AMD would'nt exactly say:
-Hey wait a few days and DON'T buy the 512. We will release a 1024 in a week or two.
If they did that no one would buy the 512... :'(

So, is the ATI HD 2900XT 512 MB DDR3 the fastest and best they will release before the summer is over?

Yes. HD 2900XT 1024MB GDDR4 will be released at the same time, but only to systembuilders like; DELL, Alienware and so on. If you will be able to buy it, it will cost much more and come with slightly slightly less performence and wont fit in to any normal housing.

I read Sampsa saying the HD2900XT 512MB GDDR3 is only a competitor to a 8800GTS, not able to compete with the 8800GTX or Ultra.

He also has a card. That throws me off, waaay more than I'd like to be.

Yes in DX9 games in gamin resolutios with AA that is. There is a new driver coming today lets see wha that does.

Synthetic benchmarks doesnt awlays apply to real world gaming

Hehe. That logo has just been put up while I refreshed the page.

I guess you need the volt mod for above 1.1GHz mem?

    I remember end of Feb. '07 in XP, the eVGA 8800GTX ACS3 (626/2GHz) with a stock X6800 and eVGA 680i board hit 35,540 in 3DM03. And in 3DM06 it hit 11390 (5237 SM2 and 5360 SM3).

On the same setup the nV 8800GTX hit 10,670 3DM06 and 32,940 3DM03.

So looking wowzer for synthetic bm's anyway, thanks.

Yeah true about the performance in bm's and real life. I'm also waiting for 3DM07 for these cards and some D3D10 intensive games/apps.

Check this out from Denny over at coolaler forums:

Kinc, Is your car... I mean is your found images taken with a 512 MB or a 1024 MB card?
Since Denny is stating that he is using one with 1024 that must mean he "got a hand on" a OEM card? Does the scores on your found images compare well to that OEM card? You said slighty less performance in OEM card, but hom much i "slightly less" :P
I'm not one of those that think that the AMOUNT of memory makes the speed. I meet customers in our store everyday that would prefer a X800 with 512 before a X1800 with 256. So my though is why ATI just didn't put 768 as nVidia did just to match those numbers and attract ppl that think RAM is "tha shit".
Or perhaps thats why the OEM's will have just that - MORE ram than nV!
