Well, sorta............
The windshields in these camaros are irreplaceable if you ever see a junker with glass in it, get the glass. It's priceless.
I used to drive this car everyday in high school, 1981 z28, 1972 350ci (5.7l) 4bbl v8 from a monte carlo. I took a stand years ago that this car was not going to get eaten alive by rust, and that I would restore it. It has been more than two years since I've taken just the tarp off of it, and it seems that the rust neutralizer I covered it in workedIt actually wasn't in as bad a shape as I thought it might be. These cars are famous for being made of poor steel, and they rust bad. GM must have been saving all the good steel for engine blocks. Old Chevrolet engines from particular model cars, trucks, and vans (4bbl engines, ill explain) are literally jewels, and coming across one in a junk car is literally like stumbling across several hundred dollars.
It had a rochester quadrajet, an edelbrock cam I installed, and before the new cam it put about three hundred horsepower to the road, according to the haynes manual charts.
If you are ever buying a muscle car and the add doesn't say "4bbl" somewhere, you had better ask. 4bbl is an abbreviation for "four bolt block" which is short for "four bolt main bearing caps block" you might see below that each main cap has four bolts, two on each side. The vast majority of American v8 engines now and even years ago are two bolt mains, and the difference is that if you try and make a typical two-bolt 350 v8 into a race motor, they tend to split bearings (main bearings).
If you want a brand new 4bbl 350 the block alone can run as much as $10,000, whereas you can get a base model two-bolt 350 for about $1000. They are simply made of inferior steel, similarly if you add more screws into a soft wood, it doesn't make much difference.
Don't be fooled by myths about the way American car's handleThis is a front tire, these sort of wheels keep you glued into the action
(about $200 each too....)
Found some easy reading while I was over there..
I paid $900 for that car, when it was driving, it even has electric windows![]()
