GeForce 9800GTX specifications surfaces

http//www.nvidia.com/GeForce 9800GTX will be the fastest single-core graphics card from chip maker NVIDIA, when it arrives before the end of next month. The rumors have been speaking of core frequencies all the way up to 850MHz, which was way off. According to a post over at Expreview, GeForce http//en.expreview.com/?p=2749800GTX will sport no more than 675MHz core frequency, which is basically slightly faster than the GeForce 8800GTS 512MB.

This means that the shaders operate at a frequency of 1688MHz and the memory have been upgraded to 1100MHz GDDR3 (2200MHz DDR). The amount of memory is still 512MB and since this is just a new flavor or the G92 chip, it sports a 256-bit bus, which in no way will limit performance. They also confirm that this is the http//www.nordichardware.com/index.php?news=1&action=more&id=7386G92-420 chip we've been reporting about.

I wonder how that will look against my 8800GTX?

With my stock cooler I can pull 660/1030 easily enough. I could probably go higher... (maybe not 1100 on mems though).
OMG I sold my computer... Using my GFs. E4300 on a P5NSLI. NON E version. Yeah, that means it's the one that literally can't do a 10mhz OC. (9Mhz worked... for a while).

It won't me much of a difference. I'm sitting right now, comparing the G92-GTS 512MB to the 8800 Ultra, and this far there's no real difference in it. If you OC your GTX past the 8800Ultra frequencies, you should be on par with the new 9800GTX... But with way higher power consumption, I guess. Even seems that the old G80 core copes with AA/AF better.

No, this could be AMD's big chance, bring on the HD4K series!

Nice. So it will just run cooler? I suppose that would mean it would OC farther, but it's not necessarily worth the couple $100 to upgrade.

Basically, it'll be a cooler 8800 Ultra-like thingie, also a bit smaller (I guess it'll be based on the current GTS 512MB PCB). Maybe it'll OC better, yes, but judging by the GTS to Ultra differences, I wouldn't spend a dollar on upgrading, unless you're one hell of a greenpeace fascist keeping track of every single penny extra on your electrical bill.

This is me somewhat guessing though, but I do have a little experience from the G92-GTS and if the only difference to the GTX would be the frequencies, there's no reason to even consider the GTX, if not Tri-SLI (which forces you to buy a crappy mobo).

If my assumptions turn out to be true, I'd dearly stick to that G80-GTX.

Ah yes, Greenpeace, not that many people who weighs that in when buying a new graphics card

The lack of RoHS compliancy was why I bought the IRAM.

More price cuts perhaps, and then pretty much nothing until June, besides some new mid-range cards. Needs some info validated about that.
    Nothing exciting though.
