    Self into to CNC Machinery

I want to learn how to build a CNC controlled XYZ machine.

So I guess the best way to do that will be building a CNC dremel machine and then i wont even have to touch a drill, or whatever to drill out complex circuit boards. I suppose you could even swap the dremel for a laser if you wanted

This pile of crap will turn into an XYZ machine of some sort... It's all in my head for now

Spending hundreds of dollars on LM guides just doesnt make sense yet...

This controller is gonna be a bit (lot) more tricky. But it will be in code, my favorite

    As always, I'm baffled

How do you come up with these ideas?

    It's a curse

I like to try and take complex ideas and make them simple

The internet really helps too, the most powerful tool humans have right now

You should make sure the mic is part of the controller unit. I don't care why it's there, but I want it integrated. Maybe as an emergency stop. If it detects you screaming that something is breaking or screwed up, it'll kill the mill or something.
OMG I sold my computer... Using my GFs. E4300 on a P5NSLI. NON E version. Yeah, that means it's the one that literally can't do a 10mhz OC. (9Mhz worked... for a while).

Hmm. Or maybe I could use the mic for counterstrike, and I could mill you a refrigerator magnet that reminds you think happy thoughts.

I decided to work out some of the logistics on paper, it's pretty straightforward...

Check out my Ultra-Super CAD skills

I bought a set of small Tap and Die as well, I don't know how far this machinery thing is gonna go yet, but it's good practice (Not Tapped)

    This might really work

Are you sure that thing is powerful enough?

For circuit boards yes (if it works). It might be able to use small milling bits as well, I'm not sure yet.

I have the top to another drill press I may possibly use for a second device, with either second hand LM guides, or possibly just a pair of used screws from them, and a more home-made approach

This device will be relatively small and flimsy, but with the small size screws I am using there should also be a high level of accuracy

There is tons of freeware out there for this stuff, and if this works then I will know I can make a more industrial size unit work

    Thank You,

Its coming along slowly, I realized somewhere along the line that the original idea I had was flawed in the way stresses would affect the structure.

It's going to look a lot like other ones, with a table-top sort of design underneath the dremel

No controller necessary, only a whole mess of power transistors. I went ahead and bought a small kit

    "When its done...."

    This is coming along nicely

Always fun to see how a project starts out as something seemingly easy and develops into something slightly different bit by bit

To be honest, I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking at just yet, but I'll hang around to see the end product, that's for sure.
