It's quite dead over here... But hey, I don't care, I wanna liven things up. So why not write about something I really like doing, and you like reading about, like overclocking.
MSI has their qualifiers for the MOA competition, for the european finals... The rules are basically 3DMark 2001SE + SuperPI 1M and a point scoring system. I of course don't expect to beat elmor and Kinc, since my CPU's are worthless, but I thought I'd at least have a go at second place, prize is an MSI X58 Eclipse SLI... Third place is an N285 Superpipe or whatever they're called. To be honest, I'd honestly rather finish third, but that's going to be hard if nobody comes in with a good CPU. But on the other hand, that's what happened in Finland.
Oh yeah, the rules state you have to be a citizen of a country... That made me eligible for both Finland and Sweden, meaning twice the prizes.
Don't know what I'm getting at as usual, it's late. I suppose here's where the results go:
The results aren't spectacular in any way, but it's not too bad anyways. If I had a better CPU I'd be flying.

<insert obligatory post about how there's no way "only" an 860w power supply could run that rig, you need at least a 1500w because I know computers and I am smart and the gtx295 needs it's own power supply>
SuperPi in under 7.5s is pretty sick! Your standards for Pi are a tad higher than mine, I'm happy to get under 10 seconds. Then my E6600 is really showing it's age now when it comes to benchmarks. 3.6ghz just isn't good for benchmarking anymore. *sigh*
Is that GTX295 on air? _________________ Phenom II @ 3.5ghz/1.4v/2000mhz HTT | 4 x 2gb Gskill Pi Black 930mhz 2.1v @ cas4 2T | 4870 512mb @ 850/4400 | Gigabyte 790gx SB750

Hehe, 860W is actually no problem whatsoever. I'm thinking along the lines of 500W power draw from the wall for this rig, haven't measured it though. Pretty much since the GTX is on air, got no pots for those.
I'm very disappointed in the two CPU's I've had so far, the best one is the one above, that does 6.2GHz PI 1M-stable, the second does about 6.05... I've got another one, a Q825 on the table right next to me, but from what I've seen it's supposed to be really bad. Let's just hope though.
Also, I just wanna point out that the 3DMark run is pretty bad, I just did it to secure the third spot in the Finnish qualifiers, I have no idea about runorders and so on in 3DM01 anymore. _________________ Man, or woman, or both? Grandis spiritus, sanctus diavolos
