How to tell manufacturingyear on a moped??

Hi.
Bought an Yamaha DT50MX for my son this spring, and have repaired and restored it.
Now when he is about to start use it i got a problem..
When i'm about to get it insured the incurancecompany wants a facturingyear on it..
I did not get any papers about such, so i got stuck on that one..
Anybody who knows how to figure out what year it's made by engine/framenumber?
Both frame and enginenumber is the same, and it starts with 7911XX=XX97
(The X's is numbers to, but i dont think it's a good idea to hang all numbers out. )
Can it be 1979 that is the manufactoringyear? Did they really build those mopeds then?

It was white/red when i bought it, now it's black/silver..
Maybe its different facturingyears between different colourschemes?

Actually, they did. DT50MX was made 1978-1996?, but the red/white colors didn't come here before the mid-80s.

I remember using http://hem.passagen.se/dt50mx/ for tips and tweaks when I helped friends tune their DT50 mopeds.
