Have'nt built so many computorsystems lately, so i'm probebly not up to date with the new components.
Kind'a upgrading what i have now, and maybe little unsure what to buy.
What do you think about this?:

I have put the pricelimit ~4000:- (Swedish kronor)
You think i can get better stuff for that money?
DVD/burner is a must because i sold my laptop, the only computor i had a DVD-burner in.
Thougt i could use a stationary better for playing games over the winter.
Smile

Checked some tests and found out that a nVidia GeForce GTS 250 might be a better choice for me?

I'd actually look up the prices for you, but my Swedish is a tad rusty... (I don't know a single word Sad )

How much would an e5200 with a P45 motherboard cost? I think it would be better to get a P45 motherboard with a less powerful CPU now and have a nice mobo to OC later should you decide to upgrade to a quad core.

Well, when i looked around it seems that P45 is about 25-30% more expensive.
Personally i dont think that i would get so much more power with P45 instead of P43 so it would be worth it, or??
I also need atleast 1 IDE-slot for my old HDD's.
I will probably do some OC, but its no big priority for me nowadays. Dont want a bunch of fans keeping me awake at night.

Yea after some research it looks like the biggest difference between Gigabyte's p45 and p43 models are less extreme OCs (which I doubt are obtainable on air cooling anyways) and a lack of heatsinks for the mosfets. If it were a cheap brand I'd worry about the mosfets, but gigabyte builds their motherboards like tanks.

Overall it looks like a sexy build. What power supply will you be using with this rig?

As for the GTS 250, it depends on what you're doing. The 4770 seems to overclock to levels beyond the GTS 250, but the GTS 250 is also much better for folding. ( <- Shameless folding at home plug) I'd get whichever is cheaper if you're short on cash!

Gonna try with my 400watts for a start, if that doesn't work i have an Hiper 560watt i can use instead.
Of what i can see uses the ATI 4770 less power than the Geforce GTS 250, so maybe i can go on the 400watts PSU, dont remember the manufacturer on it..
The tought is to be able to play some games with a deacent grapics over the winter, not to break any OC-records. And about folding@home i can say that i dont care too much about that anymore, i just run it on the server since 3-4 month ago.

AMD's site recommends a 450w, but most importantly you'll need more than 20A on the +12v rail from what I've been reading. Tom's Hardware shows power draw at around 187w full load on their test system, so 400w should suffice if you've got the amperage on the +12v and a 6 pin power adapter.

PSU requirements: http://ati.amd.com/products/radeonhd4700/requirements.html
Power Comsumption: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-4770,2281-13.html

Keep us updated with your build when you eventually decide on parts Very Happy

Discovered that i had an intel E2140 laying after an upgrade for a friend. (Thunderlightning killed his MB, but i'm not 100% sure that the CPU works.)
Seems like they are really OC-friendly.
What do you think of that? Doesn't seem to hard to make them run in 2,8-3,0GHz.

Looks nice if it should work i think, and i allready have that one for free.

Oh the e2140/e2160/e2180... I remember when they came out some reputable sites put up reviews "guaranteeing" a 3.0ghz OC, then a bunch of morons who couldn't get to 3.0 raised a stink online. Good times, good times.

Anyways, it's a decent chip, although the 1mb of cache really can be a bottleneck for games. If, however, you aren't gaming at 1680 x 1050 and need 200fps- it will be a great CPU. I used to have an e4500, a very similar chip, and the difference between my e6600 and it was pretty small in real life situations.

Oh and of course its free, and what could be better than free? That also means you can either use the 1140SEK for better parts now or save it towards a nice quad core Very Happy

As for your PSU I think you'll be OK since I run my E4400 @ 2.9GHz and a 9800GX2 with OC on my NesteQ 450W PSU so if yours is of similar quality you should be OK.

Didn't buy any stuff for this time, i'll wait for a month or two and buy some more powerfull stuff instead. I really dont have the time for playing so much games yet anyway..
I guess from november and forward over the winter will be "gametime".
