Yesterday we got some information on the coming mini-ITX Intel P55 motherboard from DFI. Back then we couldn't tell you much about the specifications of the board but we would return when we could, and now we can. We have both pictures and specifications to share. DFI will launch it part of the LAN Party family and despite limited surface there are plenty of functions to like.

Except from supporting LGA1156 processors the motherboard sports dual DDR3 memory slots and to improve overclocking DFI has supplied the board with 6-phase digital power circuitry. Below is the complete list of specifications.

Chipset

Intel P55 Express Chipset

CPU

Socket-LGA 1156 for Intel Core i5/i7

6-Phase Digital PWM

Memory

Dual-channel memory architecture

2 240-pin DDR3 DIMM sockets max 8GB

Supports unbuffered, single/double-side DDR3 1066/1333/ 1600 DIMMs

Supports x8/x16, non-ECC and ECC

Expansion Slots

1 PCIe x16 Slot

Storage

3 SATAII ports (RAID 0 / 1 / 0+1 / 5)

USB

10 USB2.0 ports (6 on rear panel/ 4 via on-board connectors)

Audio

7.1CH HD audio with Creative X-Fi technology

LAN

1 GbE LAN by Intel 82578DC

eSATA

One Power eSATA port in rear panel

Below are pictures of the board where we really see how the P55 platform gains a lot from having the northbridge inside the CPU. Price and availability is uncertain, but the board is ready for launch.

This is an amazing piece of engineering, there's no doubt about that, but...
WHY WOULD YOU PUT A CORE I5 IN A MINI ITX CASE? THAT'S JUST ASKING FOR IT!

Hehe, Lian Li has a couple of roomy ITX cases that should work just fine with high-end coolers Wink

The problem is you still need a dedicated graphics card... I've got a P45 ITX board (or Q45, to be precise) with an E7200 running on it, works just fine. Don't see an i5-750 being more difficult to cool or anything, compared to the E7200.
