This is just the beginning with stock cooled cards doing 880/980MHz.

Test 2 of the SM2.0 tests is limited by graphics perf. The fps walled above 4.2GHz. I did a test with 920/980MHz (not stable threw all tests in 3dmark 06) and saw a fps increase in the beginning with 8 fps wich is alot. Canyon flight saw a good fps increase from more system perf. and PCI-E bandwidth. Remeber this is 880MHz core and R600 is good for atleast 1150MHz in crossfire using ln2 or cascades. I ran Canyon Flight in 3Dmark 05 at these speeds and got 215 fps wich is really good for the cpu clock. Total score were ~29500 in 05. It is really nice to see CF boosting GT2 rather then slowing it down Smile

To give you an idea how well crossfire scales with cpu power. This is even higher then Ultra SLI overclocked on ln2 using a 5GHz cpu.

Light grey: 2900XT Crossfire stock air cooled with 4450MHz Kentsfield.
Dark grey: 8800GTX SLI stock air cooled pre 158.22 with 4500MHz Kentsfield.

Well, 6 months of driver optimization and the G80 still gets beaten. That's something very good for AMD already indeed. Just only in synthetic benches. Sad

Looking sehr gut Marcus! Wink

If there is anything that should sell 2900XT today except the redicilous price it is Crossfire. Crossfire offers an extreme boost in performence compared to the competiotions multi-gpu solution. It scales very well already on the old 975 core logic with 8+8 PCI-E buses. Still we know that 8+8 is a bottleneck for 2900XT Crossfire, especially if you use discrete graphics cards to play games (I dont know who would do that Wink ).

Were I'm getting at is that 2900XT lacks a review with Crossfire included, stock and overclocked. If there is time I promise you to include this in our upcoming review of the R600 with mature drivers and crossfire.

Yes please! Smile

The review I've seen with CF only used the early drivers that DT used in their pre-NDA review. But there was no overclocking in it.

What about image quality, Fear, SupCom and AA issues, any improvements in latest drivers that you know: single card and dual?

Thanks.

any possibility you could bench your overclocked system with vista? -> new drivers support crossfire in vista if I'm correct?

Droop moded the board wich let me run 100MHz more cpu (note again the cascade is only holding -65C during cpu test thats why the clock is so low). Cards at same clocks as before. The air is 8C warmer then before.

meany. You go get another card so we can run Crossfire. Would be nice to test it on RD600 and P35.

By the way. I got my SB600 SATA controller to work again Smile

The P35 is nothing to even consider for Crossfire, since it's 16/4x PCI-E lanes as I told you. The RD600 isn't exactly sunshine all the way either, so I'll be waiting for X38 or make someone send me a 975X card when I'm finished with my current business (which will be in time for P45 or something). Smile

I've got a 975X board, but it'd be cheaper if you sent the video cards to me. Very Happy

You'd like that, huh? Razz

Feels like it's cheaper to get hold of a 975X board right here in Sweden.
