I've tried everything I could imagine, uninstalling, cleaning registry, reinstalling various versions. None will work. I just formatted my pc and everything else is flying on vista 64. Messenger was working at start, but after a few win updates it stopped and I can't fix it in any way....can someone please help me? I'd hate to reformat my computer!

I'd say use Miranda or something else that both works and doesn't piss you off all the time by being annoying. Smile

Uninstall messenger and anything else live related using revouninstaller. After that, go download the latest version of live essentials (or whatever it's called) and see if that helps. If not, I have no idea, I don't use MSN messenger.

I also recommend using a different client, however I find Pidgin is the best. It's open source and has tons of plug-ins. I run it on 2 Vista x64 machines and a Windows 7 x64 machine with no problems at all. Give it a try if all else fails.

Ok guys, I see on the net that tons of people have the same problem and noone knows how to fix it, at least ill post my solution for the users of nordichardware.Apparently there was something wrong with my hard drive, I booted with MiniPE, ran a couple of disk checking/error correcting tests, and messenger works fine now! Thank you both for your replies anyway!

Glad things solved themselves. Do try Pidgin if you get the chance. There are tons of plugins and themes to download Smile
