We're getting a lot of traffic. I've been trying to resolve this for some time now, but I haven't been able to come up with a good solution. We're having a new meeting tomorrow. Hopefully we'll have a solution then.

2 hours it was down for me. Sad

Mr. Galistel what will you do with the R600 figures and a review surfaces soon? Believe me the hits are going to be battering you down. Razz

Looks like VR-Zone and TweakTown also suffered heavily today- I caught this from TT:

Our server can take huge amounts of loads, we've had articles up at the front page at slashdot, digg, etc. (sometimes at the same time) and the server has handle dit without the slightest slowdown.

I'm not sure why this problem comes now when we've been able to handle so much more load. There seems to be a huge amount of connections for some reason.

Well that's Firefox tweaking for sure.

A "tweaking" method used is to bombard 48-4 or so connections to the site server using a single call, to enable a faster webpage loadup.

network.http.max-connections
network.http.max-connections-per-server
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server

Blame Mozilla Sad
I turn off "hacks" when browsing forums by cutting the entries, but most novice users won't know how to do that nor want to, and they go around asking "how do you get speed, speed, speed?!?!?!" and when someone says to them "tweak multiple connections per server (etc) and change it's value to something high" they end up bashing it up to 100 odd. Sad

Which screws site servers up pretty heavily, although for a limited amount of time. As the server experiences too many incoming connections per browser.

If it happens when I'm gone just wait a minute or so and it should be back again.

Sorry for the downtime, I've run a lot of tests and optimized some tables. Hopefully this will do the trick.
Additional solutions are pending if not.

Most likely located the error, but unfortunately it will take a huge amount of work to fix.

We've grown a bit too large Smile

Really? The site has been like syrup since Saturday and just now I had some serious error problems Confused

Well, we've decided to make a drastic move and reduce the connections from our price comparison site. It seems to be the source of many problems right now.

Yeah, straight after that I received my first errors when replying to a few posts. ( Only allowed me to connect again now.

It looks like one or some of the ads to me TBH... they almost pause you in place for a while.

Looks like for me it was mainly the software bundle I was running that was causing the slow down.

And I mean 45-60 seconds to load a page, continuous.

Now that I'm running Prevx 2.1, and have disabled the firewall, Sandboxie, the AV, TOR and the AS, nothing of that sort is experienced. Page load is fastest I've experienced yet, 3-7 seconds.

And Mozilla's latest Gran Paradiso (Firefox 3.0 Alpha 5) is also better optimized and quicker. Wink

Well, there you go, but we still have issues with the f*cking connections. I'm gonna raise some hell now.

There are some certain problems related to software (as far as I know), which we're working on. It's taken a turn for the better today, it feels a bit more responsive, but still fucks up quite royally from time to time.

Yea, myself and one of our scripters have been tearing our hair trying to find out what causes it.

We've performed numerous tweaks and fixes and the speed of things have improved vastly yet we're not getting very far.

We will continue the search ...
