Hey guys, just in the process of building a new system. Most components have already been purchased excluding my RAM and GPU so I guess I'm just posting to try show off Wink

Xigmatek S1283 Red Scorpion CPU Cooler
AMD Phenom II 955 Black Edition CPU
Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P Mainboard
2x 4GB Kit Patriot Signature RAM
64GB G.Skill Falcon 2.5" SATA2 SSD
1.5TB Samsung Silencer Series Hard Drive
1GB HIS Radeon 4890 OC Edition Graphics
Corsair HX520 Modular Power Supply
Cooler Master Sileo 500 Case

Should make for a fast and relatively silent build. What do you reckon guys? Cool

Looking good. Don't be surprised if the graphics card isn't that silent in the end though, they do rev up a bit under load. Smile

Lol, thats ok dude. So long as its quiet at idle I've no problems. The computer is only a few feet from my bed so I want it quiet when doing big multiple day downloads ;o)

There's always AC Acceleros to mount if it's too loud. Smile

Welcome back, by the way.

Looks good to me, although if you're willing to wait a month or two ATI should release the rv8xx chips soon. Even if its not a huge boost over the rv7xx chips, at least the 4890 price will drop!

Let us know how your Phenom II overclocks Very Happy

Hmmm, will the rv8xx series be DX11 based? That would be worth waiting for. I'm keen on future apps using GPGPU power and really believe this will become more common with DX11.

Perhaps I should stick with my 4850 w/ AC Accelero (+92m fan) until its out.... Confused

RV870 will be DX11, yes. There's no giant leap between 4850 and 4890, even though it's noticable, so I'd actually wait, even though I usually think there's no use in waiting for new hardware, since there's always new things around the corner.

Sorry to hear about the Gallstones Delph1.... Confused

Hey, I have kept my 4850, besides it has a nice silent cooling solution on it. Can't believe how ridiculously fast the new system is though the one thing lets my system down on Win7 performance scores is the video card.

Looks like my old system was holding the video card back as I can now crank Far Cry 2 up to max settings though still only 4x AA settings.

I'm keen on DX11 as I believe this is the tech that will bring GPU computing to the mainstream apps for video encoding etc etc. I want a version of AShampoo Burning Studio with GPU processing! Wink

For now, thank god for DVD players that support DivX! Laughing
