Quicktime/Itunes stopped working

Ever since the update to Itunes 7.6 and Quicktime 7.4, either of these programs have not been working. If I click on quicktime it doesn't open until I press ctrl+alt+del and go to the task manager. It will then open right up. It doesn't always do the same with Itunes but once I open quicktime it starts acting that way it as well. But even so quicktime doesn't play videos, they either freeze or it locks up completely. This program seems to install all sorts of things so I'm kind of hoping to just clear it right off and use quicktime alternative. I want to keep itunes because I like the the interface. Does anyone have a clue what might be going on here? I've never seen this happen where a program only opens once you get to the task manager. I don't eve close anything just after doing that boom it opens.
