Diamond Radeon HD 4870 XOC Premium Black Edition appeared in the news a while back. It is the first out of hopefully many cards that falls into the Super RV770 category. The first reference Radeon HD 4870 was clocked at 750MHz and sported GDDR5 memory operating at 3600MHz. Diamond Radeon HD 4870 XOC Premium Black Edition is clocked at 800MHz and GDDR5 chips at 4400MHz. The graphics card BIOS had also been modified to allow even higher overclocking through Catalyst Control Center, up to 950/4800MHz.

Diamond has sent over a picture of the card, while we wait for the snail mail to deliver the actual card.

That would've fit perfectly on the Skulltrail, with the skull and all.

From what I've heard, there's already few X2 samples going around to a veeeery special group of reviewers. Me/NH of course not included. Smile

So X2 in August shouldn't be a real problem.

The NDA might just lift sooner than that, but don't expect cards o'plenty until late August.
