NVIDIA has unveiled to partners that there are two big updates coming to its chipset lineup. First of all, NVIDIA will update its AMD socket AM2+ chipset nForce 780a with Advanced Clock Calibration (ACC) to catch up to AMD's latest circuits. We were told that NVIDIA will connect the southbridge to the JTAG interface and then update the BIOS to support ACC for up to 10% better Phenom overclocks. NVIDIA will release a new revision of its nForce 780a reference board to partners soon. We know for a fact that Foxconn will update its family of motherboards with the ACC-capable nForce 780a. Other are expected to do the same, but we can't confirm this.

Beside the new revision of 780a, NVIDIA is planing a new Intel chipset that will be dubbed nForce 770i. This chipset is supposed to be a stripped down version of the high-end nForce 790i. Seeing as we were told this is a cheaper version of 790i we would assume that this is NVIDIA's answer to Intel's P45 with DDR3, but with SLI instead of CrossFire. Until know, performance segment users would couldn't get a motherboard with SLI support and DDR3, but this will be remedied by the nForce 770i by the looks of it.
