Intel's new X58 platform has been ready for some time now and we have presented you with motherboards ready to launch from many manufacturers. They are more or less just waiting for Intel to say go and launch the new Core i7 processor lineup, which goes with the new chipset and LGA1366 socket. Intel is expected to unleash Core i7 in less than a month, but the processors have already found their way to partners and media.

If there is anything we have gotten used to it is that Intel's product launches are never kept secret, and that there are often people willing to share more than Intel wants them to, such as people with access tot he black market. Core i7 is no exception and Asian overclocker Coolaler has decided to publish a whole bunch of pictures of Intel's flagship, Core i7 Extreme Edition Q965 together with Intel's own X58 motherboard.

The processor looks a lot like the current processors, but comes with a lot more pins and is a bit bigger, but another thing you are bound to notice is the new cooler. Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition Q965 comes with a small cooler than the previous generation of Extreme Edition, Core 2 Extreme QX9650. To compensate for the size, Intel has replaced aluminum fins with copper alikes.

The motherboard Coolaler has posted pictures of is Intel's own model and it looks like a complete press kit. He has also posted some benchmarks, for example a truly wicked CPU score in 3DMark Vantage, with an untouched processor. You can find more over at Coolaler.com.
