We've been following the development of the liquid metal cooler LM10 from danish upstart company Danamics. The LM10 looks very much like many other high-end heatpipie coolers, but instead of relying on the passive flow of heat through the heatpipes, LM10 sports a patent-pending electromagnetic pump enabling pump activity at much lower currents than previously possible. The pump moves the liquid metal through the pipes to move the heat faster. We will go deeper in our upcoming review.

We've been testing a LM10 prototype for a few days now, but we still have some tweaking of the text to do before we reveal how it performs. In the meantime, Danamics has announced that cooler will become available in stores near you soon, if not already. The cooler currently support AM2, AM2+ and Socket 775, but buyers will get a free Socket 1366 mounting bracket for free.

Stay tuned for our world exclusive review of Danamics LM10 soon.

The review should've been up yesterday if everything would've gone as it should, which it didn't. I'm not sure how much details I can reveal, so I'll just stop right there. Smile

Everything gone as it should, did it:

a. Blow up?
b. Blow the computer up?

How about telling when the review will be up?

I hate it when a item is available before a review, maybe it does not work as good as advertsied !!!

Nothing has exploded, I'll give you that. As I don't have facts on everything, all I can do is guess, but we're hoping to have everything published and done as soon as possible, naturally.

The cooler works, we can give you that. Nothing has exploded Wink

We've been testing the prototype, but Danamics will send us the retail unit now so it might be fairest to all if we review the retail unit, because there are differences.

So how long before you review the retail version.

I am pretty sure you lost your exclusive as other companies will receive retail versions or someone who buys one will post their review.

The thing is, Danamics won't send any other samples out, but if anyone wants to buy one, that's of course a possibility. The retail unit should be on its way from what I've gathered.

Well I do not think many people are going to buy one until they see a review and how well it performs Very Happy

Also I can only find dutch and french retailers that stock it and none in the UK.

I am wondering if this is because of the liquid metal and custom problems. I have read that it is banned in the US because of the chemicals it uses.

It uses NaK in the pipes, why that isn't compliant with US laws is beyond me. NaK reacts explosively with water, but that will never happen since the liquid will coagulate instantly when it comes in contact with air.

There is no reason to worry about the liquid metal. It is safe.

The prototype and retail unit are different in a few ways. The performance is better with the retail unit, but we won't get the retail unit until next week. It was supposed to arrive today, but it hasn't. I'm sorry about the delay, but I can't really do anything about it.

And I obviously can't test it, and am not allowed to show either the performance or pics of the prototype.

Feels a bit bad, but at least it's on its way.

Sounds good,

I suppose it could either be an interesting new solution, or maybe just a lot of noise Smile

I sure haven't seen anything about it in my mailbox just yet. Should be here by tomorrow though.
