The first free beta version of Windows 7 would first only be released in 2.5 million copies, but since the downloads widely surpassed Microsoft's expectations it simply increased the number of downloads. It removed the download limit and instead set a stop date, January 24th, but it has now announced that this date has been moved so that no one will risk missing out on Microsoft's first beta version of the promising operating system Windows 7. Microsoft will allow free downloads of the Windows 7 Beta till February 10th.

"Because enthusiasm continues to be so high for the Windows 7 Beta and we don’t want anyone to miss out we will keep the Beta downloads open through February 10th. Customers who have started but not completed the download process will be able to do so through February 12th."

MSDN and TechNet subscribers will still be able to download the beta after that, but the free download will be closed and the work with next beta will continue.
