Intel's mid-range platform Core i5 is expected to appear in the fourth quarter 2009 and the first chipset to support the new processors will be Intel P55. We have posted pictures of several P55-based motherboards in the past and one of these have been from DFI. DFI LANParty DK won't be the flagship though, that position is inhabited by the LANParty UT model, which has now made an appearance over at VR-Zone. There are no detailed specifications, but the pictures reveal quite a bit.

First of all, DFI is going all the way with digital power circuitry with the UT model. Digital PWM circuits have replaced the classic MOSFET chips and capacitors.

DFI has equipped the board with a mini-USB port whose function remains clouded, other than that it is related to the BIOS of the board. They did reveal that P55 LANParty UT will use the all new in-house chipset cooling, Flame Freezer.

Below is a set of pictures of the coming P55 motherboard, a board with clear potential to rock.
