Cooling company Scythe has stayed clear of NVIDIA's latest GeForce GTX series until now, when a new cooler called Setsugen has appeared, and it borrows heavily from Scythe's popular processor coolers. Loads of aluminum fins are mixed with copper heatpipes (4 x 6mm) and a larger fan for both efficient and quiet cooling of NVIDIA's GeForce GTX260 graphics card.

Setsugen is related to the processor cooler Mugen 2 that is quite popular among high-end users. The heatsink is divided into four parts for better airflow through the heatsink, less resistance and thus better cooling.

The cooler weighs 390g and comes with a 120mm Slip Stream fan, just launched, that enables Scythe to place the can between the cooler base and heatsink. That way the air is blown through the heatsink instead of sucked through. This keeps the hot air away from the graphics card, but at the same time it is not quite as efficient for other components.

Setsugen will launch within a month and whether the cooler supports other cards of the GTX family remains to be seen.
