When Microsoft decided to launch its latest search engine, called Bing, there were, the least to say, a lot of skeptics. Bing looks to be a step in the right direction for Microsoft since things are improving. The latest numbers from the USA show that Bing has claimed another 1% of the search engine users.

In the great country across the Atlantic, Bing handles an average of 8% of all searches and during one week in June it peaked at 9.21% of all searches. Globally things are much worse though, as Google dominates with near 90% of all searches, the remaining are evenly divided between Yahoo and Microsoft (Bing, Live Search and MSN Search combined).

What are your thoughts on Microsoft's new search engine? If you're having a hard time deciding which engine to use you can always use a site like this one: www.google-vs-bing.com.

Although I have actually switched over to bing to find products/videos and am a fan myself, I just want to point this out: live search now redirects to bing. Anyone who uses the default settings when setting up IE7 or IE8 now uses bing, whether they know it or not. That could account for its "successful" launch.

Either way, I've always felt that ANYTHING is better than live search. That engine was worse than useless!

You got a point there, but then again it's common M$ tactics to to trick/force users into using the new stuff.

In this case I see little harm though, since, as you mention, Live was worse than crap.
