As you all most likely are well aware of Kinc is in possession of ATI's latest flagship graphics card: Radeon X1950XTX. In our review of the graphics card he showed that there is plenty of potential to be utilized and some of it has now been displayed by his latest overclocking adventure. By pairing the new X1950XTX with ATI's previous flagship X1900XTX in a Crossfire setup he has managed to score almost 82,000 points in 3DMark 2001 SE. And that's just using the stock air cooling. The X1950XTX was pumped up to 681/1143 MHz (GPU/MEM) and the X1900XTX to 681/870 MHz to reach a final score of 81,779 points.

Paired with the two graphics card was our, a bit substandard, Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 clocked at 4679MHz cooled by a Cascade compressor setup running at -90°C.

81,779 3DMarks with 3DMark 2001 SE

Specifications

CPU: X6800 @ 4679MHz
CPU cooling: Cascade cmpressor at -90°C
Master card: X1950XTX @ 681/1143MHz
Slave card: X1900XTX @ 681/870MHz
Memory: Corsair 6400C3 3-3-3-7 425MHz
Motherboard: ASUS P5W DH

And there is more coming, much more.

We need a new X6800. It's really embarrasing when it won't go any further than this. A few more MHz is most likely possible but we're still 1-200 short of the decent samples, and even more behind the good ones.

Anyway, more is coming very soon Wink

84,600 atm, but that's just with compressor cooling on one of the cards and a slightly higher CPU clock, still under the cascade.

Ive been trying to find out if the x1950 master cards work with x1900xtx cards in crossfire. Because the x1900 crossfire cards have been discontinued, no longer available for purchase.

Is the master card you have hooked up with the 1900xtx, a crossfire edition or an x1950xtx?

And is pairing the x1950 with 1900xtx a viable solution to crossfire, will I come across any problems using this setup? Performance, drivers etc?

any info would be greatly appreciated , thanks

It is a master edition. Yes x1950master+x1900xtx/xt is a very viable solution. One funny thing is that the perf in some application is sometimes better with x1950+x1900 rather then two 1950's.

Great thanks for the info.

which drivers work best with this setup?

One question about overclocking if ya dont mind, when using atitool 14, do I just select which device device 0 (master) set overclock profile, then go to device 1 (slave) set profile? or is there anything special for overclocking crossfire?

There is no officall driver yet (except for the modded 6.8 that you get with the retial-card) but 6.10 should be out really soon. Yeah, just change the device and overclock. You'll have to use beta 16 to overclock 1950.
