ASUS LN64-SLI Deluxe is the first motherboard we've seen developed which is purely intended for AMD's 4x4 platform and with support for dual dual-core processors and four graphics cards it's hardly a motherboard that will be lost in the crowd. The motherboard which ASUS has designed uses the eATX format and thus takes up quite a lot of space. But if you're ready to invest in a 4x4 platform the motherboard layout should be a minor problem. Anyhow, The Inquirer has been able to come across a picture of ASUS LN64-SLI Deluxe and it is a mighty creation, both measurements and specifications.

AMD hasn't held back with the 4x4 platform and as we've earlier reported it's NVIDIA which supplies the chipsets. It's not a regular chipset though but two 680a chipsets on each motherboard.

"The way 4x4 works is simple: both 680a chips are connected to one FX CPU via 16x HT link; that CPU is talking to the second one using a 16x ccHT link. As you can see, two MCPs mean only one thing: a lot of features. In fact, an insane amount of them: 12 SATA-II connectors that can run two independent RAID5 arrays, 10 USB 2.0 ports (chipset supports 20), four hardware Gigabit Ethernet chips with TCP/IP Offload engine, each one with FirstPacket marchitecture."

ASUS motherboard and AMD's new FX processors will be available in stores at the end of November.
