We reported a while back that Auzen X-FI Prelude 7.1 will have to rely on the X-Fi drivers supplied by Creative. The reason is simply because Creative hasn't given Auzentech access to the source code. This is rather unfortunate in our saying since we know that there were people hoping that Auzentech would remedy Creative's lackluster X-Fi drivers. We did receive an official reply from Auzentech that confirmed this, but it has now added that it is hoping to get access to the source code and develop its own drivers for the Auzen X-FI Prelude 7.1. However there were no word on when, or even if, it will get access to the source code. We certainly hope so though.

Auzentech is a chip placement, circuit tuning company with software that converts breadboards to multilayered circuit designs.

Creative will not release source code for fear of reverse engineering on their innovative X-Fi processing.

What makes you think that Auzentech could improve a driver that the people who designed the chips could not get right? Certainly Auzentech can measure current flow and frequency changes but to attribute their success to any engineering design of their own is over exaggerated. They are good technicians thus (Auzentech).

My direct communications with Auzentech and their replies have told me the above. Don't know who you are talking to.

I've received a couple of replies from Auzentech regarding this, not that they would give me name for some reason, but the answers have been rather clear that they would not be able to develop their own drivers.
People were hoping that Auzentech would be able to do something about the drivers, not saying that they would actually be capable of it. The emphasis is on hope.

The exact reply was as follows:
Quote:
We also hope that we will be able to develop the driver our selves.

However, now we have concluded to get it from Creative.

We will do our best to meet the customers’ needs, so please keep your eyes open on our product line.

Of course Auzentech wants to improve the crappy drivers, pretty much all Creative's drivers suck big time, as they're concerned with what they're selling, unlike Creative.

It's too bad Creative won't release the source code, in that case I'm fairly certain we actually would've seen the first decent consumer soundcard otherwise.
