Elmor sets a new Core 2 Duo record: 5854MHz!

The by now well-known Swedish overclocker Jon "elmor" Sandström has been locked up in his overclocking bunker once again, and this time he's came up with something that impresses in another way than just 3DMark points. Although you might say that benching 3D is the ultimate way of judging how good a system is, we just can't let this past us, even though it's "only" related to maximum frequencies on CPU. Jon has namely set a new thrilling world record for the Core 2 architecture; 5854.6MHz, beating the old record done with a E6700.

The equipment used for this cruel experiment was a fully modded ASUS P5W64 WS Pro, a retail Intel Core 2 Duo X6800 L624A609, 2x1GB Mushkin XP2-8500 running 1:1 at 3-3-3-5 timings and a S3 Trio64+ PCI graphics card, all powered by a Silverstone Zeus 850W.

This is of course impressive, and CPU-Z validated. We keep hearing that elmor is going to give SuperPI 1M a shot, as he's got 30 liters of LN2 left...
