GeForce 9500GT specifications, review
Written by Andreas G 08 April 2008 16:32

GeForce 9500GT is one of the mid-range cards NVIDIA will launch to replace the older cards of the GeForce 8 series, As you might have guessed 9500GT will replace 8500GT, a card which sports anything but impressive performance. GeForce 9600GT turned out to be a big update from 8600GT, unfortunately we can't say that we're as impressed by the new 9500GT. The G96 core has only 32 shader processors, but the core operates at 650MHz, shaders at 1625MHz, which should make up for it a bit.

There will be two versions. One sporting GDDR2 memory at 900MHz and one with GDDR3 at 1600MHz. Both have 128-bit memory interfaces. The review posted at Chinese site zol.com.cn reveals performance which is just slightly better than GeForce 8600GT, which isn't all that surprising since the specifications are quite similar.

Much like most cards of the GeForce 9 series, the main update isn't performance, but PCIe 2.0, lower power consumption and an updated PureVideo HD. This mainly looks like an alternative for HTPCs, but the lack of HDMI and DisplayPort makes it a worse option than the ATI equivalents.
