Lian-Li launches Xbox 360 case, PC-XB01
Written by Andreas G 14 August 2008 21:27

Xbox 360 is hardly one of the slimmest or stylish consoles or even electronics, which may be part of the lackluster sales on the fastidious Japanese market. Even though the design has been criticized, the cooling has been the biggest problem. It's not only weak, but also loud. There are plenty of modifications where you can mount everything from a new and quieter cooler, or even mount the components in a whole new case, like the Lian Li PC-XB01.

Lian Li has displayed the case at numerous events, but it hasn't been launched until now. Lian Li PC-XB01 is an Xbox 360 replacement case, which means you will have to open up your console and transfer all of the components to your new PC-XB01. Lian Li is pretty clear with why you would want to do this, even though this will void the warranty;

"The XB01 is a chassis replacement for the XBox 360 chassis, which alleviates heating issues from hot components and reduces noise from vibrating optical drives in the original case design. The PC-XB01 requires DIY knowledge for the transfer of components, but once completed, heat will no longer be a factor in dampening your XBox 360 gaming experience."

The measurements 160x250x415mm are about the same in depth, but twice as high and ten centimeters (four inches) wider. If you prefer the somewhat larger Lian-Li's case is up to you, but we have no doubt that PC-XB01 will cool your components a lot more efficient than the original case. The MSRP is $149.
