MSI to go AMD Yukon with X-Slim 410 and 610
Written by Andreas G 17 May 2009 19:41

MSI was quick to announce its great plans for its thin X-Slim series of notebooks. The first models of the series was recently launched and X340 is based on Intel's new energy efficient CULV platform. Earlier on MSI has only been talking about Intel's processor platforms for the X-Slim series, but new information hints that also AMD-based models are coming. MSI has taken a look at the AMD Yukon platform that will appear in the form of MSI X410 and X610.

This means MSI will perhaps not release the AMD platform at sizes below 14", which could be because the higher power consumption and cooling requirements.

MSI says that the advantage of the Yukon platform isn't just AMD's integrated graphics circuits but also the external graphics processors in the form of Radeon HD 4330. AMD's Athlon Neo processor supplies the crunching power of the Yukon platform developed especially for thin notebooks.

Even if the information is unconfirmed it looks like MSI will launch the first AMD-based X-Slim models in the second half at prices below those of the Intel models.
