Xigmatek Balder SD1283 tower cooler
Written by Andreas G 06 October 2009 19:45

The bonds between Taiwanese cooling manufacturer Xigmatek Nordic Mythology may be a mystery to us but after sharing information on Thor's hammer earlier this year the next cooling God from Xigmatek is here. Balder SD1283 is claimed to be the best of all Gods of the Norse Mythology, and the name comes from the Islandic word for "light", making sense from a marketing point of view. Xigmatek has put some effort into though, more than the cool name.

Xigmatek Balder SD1283 sport the classic and very popular tower design and measures 120x50x159mm. It weighs 700g, 120mm fan included. The fan operate at 1000-2200RPM and makes at most 28dBA noise.

The aluminum fins spread the heat across a larger surfaces after three 8mm heatpipes moves the heat from the processor core. The heatpipes are in direct contact with the processor for optimal cooling.

The cooler supports all new processor platforms, including LGA1156, and costs €35.
