PowerColor are not afraid to use exotic cooling solutions with its graphics cards and now it looks like it will be the first to announce water cooling from factory with ATI Radeon HD 5870. To make the most of the fastest single-GPU graphics card on the market it has worked together with EK, widely known for its water cooling blocks. PowerColor will use a water block from EK with its Radeon HD 5870 LCS series (Liquid Cooling Solution), covering all heat emitting components.
Through more efficient cooling both the life span and overclocking potential improves dramatically. Another advantage is that the higher heat capacity of water enables users to build truly quiet PCs.
Exactly how PowerColor will design its water-cooled Radeon HD 5870 remains to be seen, but we expect tweaked clock frequencies and perhaps an even bigger memory buffer.
