Android™: the Quintessence of Mobility
Written by Andreas G 15 October 2009 14:27

Acer is on the verge of becoming the world's second biggest PC builder after HP and it continues to show innovation with the Aspire One AOD250 netbook. What may look like a regular 10.1" netbook is in fact first to ship with Google's mobile operating system Android along with Microsoft Windows XP on the side if you in any way feel limited by Android.

Through a pre-configured dual-boot setup users can choose between the either familiar, but slower, Windows environment or access the new and faster Android operating system in just 15 seconds.

Android is the light-weight option and perhaps considered a complement for Windows, which would explain why Google hos chosen to develop Chrome OS for the broader PC audience.

"The unique dual-boot OS on the new Aspire One ensures users fast connections, the familiarity of Windows, and the added convenience of open source mobile platforms and applications."

The computer can't talk to Android marketplace but will ship with a bunch of applications installed from factory, the browser also comes configured for flash which is a must today. Price will be around 350€.
