Seagate has been going easy with its Solid State Drive venture and now that it is shipping its first SSD products it does it silently. It has revealed that the first Solid State Drives started shipping a month ago and the target buyer was businesses and mainly servers. Seagate sees great possibilities with its SSD technology for businesses, but so far it hasn't revealed any product names for its State products.
No specifications are available at this time and Seagate reveals nothing more than that the company motto still stands:
“Our product development plan enables us to emphasize endurance, reliability and performance for SSDs at the same level of enterprise expertise that customers have come to expect from Seagate"
Seagate use the Serial ATA interface with its Solid State Drives but it is also working on models using fiber channel and Serial Attached SCSI interface. Popular standards among servers.
When Seagate's SSDs will go retail is still unknown.
