Cooling developer Danger Den is not wasting time. While waiting for AMD to launch its first dual-GPU graphics card of the Evergreen family Danger Den has been working hard in the metal shop. Before AMD has even confirmed the launch date of 'Hemlock' Danger Den has presented a water block for the card. The design isn't complete, but the base is ready, which is the tough part of the project. The weight? 1.37kg, or 3 lbs., of pure copper.
The pictures posted by Danger Den shows the water channels and that it has tried to maximize the contact surface against heat-emitting components for optimal cooling.
Danger Den is just waiting for a sample of the graphics card from AMD to complete the final mounting tests. Danger Den calls Hemlock Radeon HD 5870X2 but that doesn't mean much since most things are still pointing toward the Radeon HD 5900 branding.
The price of Danger Den's Hemlock water block hasn't been set yet, but the launch date will be the same as when AMD decides to release the graphics cards, if there are not unexpected obstacles.
