Intel has a firm hold on the portable computer industry, but AMD is hoping to grab more and more shares in the upcoming future and one of the weapons will be more Energy Efficient models. AMD is said to develop new dual-core processors for the mobile market that will use a new revision of the K10.5 45nm architecture. The new and optimized core will offer considerably lower power consumption and the first numbers show much promise.
AMD Athlon II Neo Dual core K325 will be the first model of the series, sporting dual cores, 2MB cache, 64-bits FPU and DDR3-800, and maximal power consumption of just 12W. Unfortunately there is no word on the clock frequency but we hope there will be competitive performance.
AMD Turion Neo Dual-core K625 will be big brother with dual cores, 128-bit FPU and faster HyperTransport bus, and TDP of 15W.
AMD is also expected to launch a single-core Neo processor with 12W power consumption with specifications similar to K325.
