Acer S234HLbmii 14.5mm thin LED monitor
Written by Andreas G 24 October 2009 22:15

Acer S234HLbmii is hardly one of the more appealing product names we've encountered, but we're sure Acer's latest LCD creation will appeal on a closer look. The monitor sports 24" LCD panel enriched by W-LED backlighting. This has many advantages, the most obvious it being very thin. The monitor is only 14.5mm deep and offers a pretty futuristic design with an angular foot and clean design.

The second obvious advantage with LED backlighting is the lower power consumption, reduced by 65% compared to similar monitors with CCFL lighting. Acer specifies the power consumption to 17.2W at regular use, but there is more to the LED technology. Since LED can turn off completely it can reach much higher contrasts and Acer S234HLbmii has dynamic contrast at 8,000,000:1.

The monitor has 2ms (GTG) access time, 1920x1080 resolution, two integrated 1W speakers and dual HDMI inputs and one D-Sub (VGA) input.

There is no information on when the monitor may appear in the west, but it has reached stores in Japan and costs 33,000 Yen (240€).
