Now that Microsoft has finally released Windows 7 it has started to reveal details on the development of the most popular OS in many years. Among others we have found that the beta versions of Windows 7 has had more testers than any other software by Microsoft and a grand total of 8 million users have participated in the beta program, a pretty staggering number.
The reasons have been plenty but the common nominator has been that the beta version and Release Candidate of Windows 7 have been so stable and functional that many have decided to use the operating system, for more than just testing.
Microsoft is no advocate of open source code, but it is pretty clear that even the creators of Windows has been given a lot of help from outsiders with its products.
