Cooling maker Scythe has launched two new versions of the Katana 3 CPU cooler. The cooler uses a tower-like fin design that reminds a bit of the leaning tower of Pisa. The heatsink sits at an angle which makes the 92mm fan blow through the heatsink and down upon other hot components around the socket. While that the same time the Fast-Phase Structure technology with extra fins on the cooling base can take advantage of the additional airflow.
The thing that separate this cooler from previous models is that this one comes in two shapes, Katana 3 Type A for AMD's processor sockets, and Katana 3 Type I for Intel's sockets. All of the current platforms are supported and with a PWM-regulated 92mm fan operating at between noise levels of 7.2-31.07 dBA. It weighs 495g and the cooler measures 94 x 108 x 143 mm.
Scythe Katana 3 costs around 20€ in stores.
