DirectX 11 for Windows Vista
Written by Andreas G 29 October 2009 11:27

After the worst hype on Windows 7 has settled Microsoft has released a platform update for Windows Vista. The most noticeable about this update is the support for DirectX 11. Windows 7 has developed the new API from the ground and up, but even Windows Vista will get full support for DirectX 11. Microsoft claims that Windows 7 has some advantages in the use of DX11 but it will most likely be hard to notice in games and applications.

The platform update also targets Windows Server 2008 and requires users to install Service Pack 2 first.

Except the DirectX 11 support there is also some news that have also appeared with Windows 7 and the complete list of updates can be found at Microsoft's website.

From now on there is no need to buy Windows 7 to enjoy DirectX 11 effects like tessellation or DirectCompute for non-graphics applications.
