MSI playing it cool, no rush for USB 3.0 or SATA 6Gbps
Written by Andreas G 29 October 2009 21:11

While the competition is fighting to get the most and finest motherboards with the new storage interfaces USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps MSI is calmly leaning back and enjoying the show. MSI says that it sees no reason to support the new formats yet and after Intel postponed the integrated support for USB 3.0 up until 2011 it's not the only company playing it cool.

SATA 6Gbps may be the most interesting right now but after seeing what the first generation SATA 6Gbps drive can, or rather can't, do we can certainly see where MSI is coming from.

If Solid State Drives sporting SATA 6Gbps won't appear until next year the motherboards that launch now will only be around for marketing value, more than any actual use.

We of course hopes that both formats break into the market sooner than that but we completely understand the reasoning at MSI.
