AOpen miniPC MP945-VXR arrives in June
Written by Andreas G 30 May 2006 19:27

AOpen miniPC MP945-VXR is what AOpen calls the new generation MiniPC and it uses the new MoDT standard which is something of a stationary computer with mobile roots. We have earlier reported about the Mobile on DeskTop concept which even Intel has shown great interest in and where we will see the chip giant's mobile Core Duo processors appear in what could be called stationary computers. Even if the MoDT systems are stationary they use a lot of mobile components to pull down on the power consumption and heat dissipation. Which makes it easier to create small, quiet and convenient computers. AOpen displayed together with Intel its latest MoDT creation at IDF earlier this year and now it has in fact launched the model officially.

AOpen miniPC MP945-VXR is looking very promising and comes with a very clean and appealing exterior more than up to par with Apple's Mac mini. The sober design is heightened by the system's minimalistic measurements, 165x165x50mm with MP945-VXR is almost identical to Apple Mac mini.

MP945-VXR has nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to the performance as the heart of the system is Intel's Core Duo processor and as the chipset we find Intel 945GM which also delivers the graphics through the integrated graphics circuit. Other interesting details include the use of DDR2-SODIMM memory modules, just as portable computers, and also the harddrive uses the mobile 2.5" interface. MP945-VXR also sports Intel's MediaCenter platform Viiv whereas the system comes with a DVI output instead of a VGA port.

These small and convenient MoDT systems are truly something to look forward to and AOpen seems to be decisive to be the leading actor on this market. The prices of AOpens MP945-VX systems fully configured with a Core Duo processor starts at 749 euro plus taxes.
