AOpen i945GTt-VFA: Size matters
Written by Andreas G 15 June 2006 14:22

AOpen i945GTt-VFA is the latest creation in AOpen's for the MoDT (Mobile on DeskTop) market which Intel seems to be eager to support. You simply use components intended for portable systems with stationary such, which makes its possible to create very slim and power efficient systems. AOpen i945GTt-VFA use the Mini-ITX formfactor and only measures 170x170mm which is up to par with the extremely power efficient platforms by VIA where the processor is integrated onto the motherboard. Here we have a completely upgradeable system which not surprisingly use Intel's mobile processors, Core Duo/Core Solo and Core 2 Duo.

It offers not just impressive performance from a minimal package but you can equip the motherboard with up to 2GB of RAM (SO-DIMM DDR II typ, DDR2-SDRAM I.e. DDR2 for laptops). The motherboard has through the integrated graphics circuit a DVI output and sports everything from 8 channel sound and Gigabit LAN and FireWire.

"AOpen is a leading supplier of Mobile on Desktop Technology, combining energy-efficient working platforms with compact working dimensions. When used with Intel ViiV technology or ORB software, the i945GTt-VFA provides an excellent base for building a universal, high-quality home entertainment centre."

AOpen has confirmed to us that the motherboard will be launched at the end of June and at a recommended price of 275 euro excl. VAT. In other words, you have to pay up to stay small, as usual. We have managed to get a hold of two high resolution pictures of the board.
