Swedish Computer Performance Championship 2006
Written by Andreas G 04 December 2006 19:28

NordicHardware is proud to present the fifth annual Swedish Computer Performance Championship. Working together with Intel, XFX, ASUS, Corsair, AMD, Shuttle, SilverStone and Antec we now open up the doors for the championship that will make it possible for us to crown Sweden's fastest PC at the beginning of next year. The purposes of this competition are many, but mainly we want to inspire new people to try to tweak and overclock their systems. We are also encouraging those who are already familiar with overclocking to go that extra mile, to push that component one more step, one more megahertz and perhaps at the end collect the title Sweden's fastest PC.

This year's event will, of course, be bigger than any of the previous ones. We have prices worth close to $9,000 and this includes 2 Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700, 2 Intel Bad Axe 2, 2 Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4D Dominator kits, 2 XFX GeForce 8800 GTX, an AMD Athlon 64 FX-72 processor kit and much, much more.

The two main categories are as always 3DMark 06 and percentual overclocking and will be completed by the third price/performance category this year as well. The roof has been raised to 8000SEK for this year (about $800) and we're eager to see what people will be able to do with this neat amount of money.

Last year Robert 'crotale' Kihlberg and Marcus 'Kinc' Hultin showed the world what they could do. crotale managed to do a 203% overclock, which is still the highest percentual overclock in the world while Kinc scored some really impressive 3DMark 05 results. The price/performance category was won by veteran overclocker Jimmie 'Stinger' Knutas with a Pentium M 730 and 7800GT system.

We're hoping to see many participants and for those of you who can't participate, simply because you're not from these parts of the world, we will still keep you updated with news reports as soon as things start to roll. But until then we wish all participants good luck and hope for a really nice winter for overclocking.
