Thermalright HR-09 - mosfet cooler
Written by Andreas G 19 April 2007 14:47

Thermalright HR-09 is a somewhat odd third-party cooler as it is actually for the motherboard and its mosfets. Today's processors require more power and then it's up to the mosfets to supply the processors with that power, which is hard work; especially during overclocking sessions and higher voltages. Motherboards of today have mosfet coolers, but this is the first (?) from a third-party manufacturer. The reason is as mentioned before, the growing enthusiast market, which means that there is a growing need for bigger and better mosfet cooling. The standard mosfet cooling simply aren't enough, but this has been remedied by Thermalright.

It has developed a separate cooling for the mosfets of the motherboard and the High-Riser series is available as two different models for maximum compatibility. Without having seen any comparing benchmarks of Thermalright's new mosfet cooler you can still notice the large surfaces, which tends for some good cooling and this could be an alternative for the really fastidious users and overclockers.
