DDR3 pushed to 2200MHz using Gigabyte P35T-DQ6
Written by Andreas G 23 May 2007 17:02

The main advantages of the DDR3 technology over the current DDR2 technology are the higher frequencies it allows for and we've already reported about how several manufacturers have launched DDR3-1333 modules. The DDR3 technology will reach 1600MHz pretty soon, but that is far from what the technology is capable of. Overclocker "david" has been able to push a 1GB DDR3-1333 module from Micron to 2200MHz, a new world record and it clearly shows the overclocking potential of the DDR3 circuits on the market.

The information about the new world record comes from the motherboard manufacturer Gigabyte, whose P35T-DQ6 motherboard was used to reach the high frequency. The results has been verified at x86-secret.com. The memory was from Micron and was overclocked in a single channel setup with 10-10-10-24 latencies. The processor was a Core 2 Duo E6850 that was overclocked to 3.89GHz and a 550MHz processor bus.
