AOpen miniPC MP965-VDR - Santa Rosa goes MoDT
Written by Andreas G 28 May 2007 10:24

AOpen continues to design new MoTD products for its minimalistic line of desktop PCs, where mobile technology is used to reduce power consumption and save space. Back in May last year we published some pictures of AOpen miniPC MP945, which would arrive in June the same year. Now, one year later, Aopen has presented a new miniPC that is based on Intel's new mobile Santa Rosa platform; AOpen MP965-VDR. The previous model was based on the Intel 945 chipset and the 667MHz FSB Core 2 Duo models, while new one sports the 965 chipset and the new Core 2 Duo with a faster bus.

"To go with the next-generation Santa Rosa goodness, the small form factor desktop PCs can adapt features from the new mobile platform via AOpen MoDT (Mobile on Desktop) technology. And the smallest desktop PC in the world, miniPC Duo MP965-VDR is the best live evidence. With Intel new Core 2 Duo processor and chipset, the great-looking video, stronger wireless signals, better security, and energy efficient now can be realized."

Except from a whole new platform it has also tweaked the design of the case. A design that should speak to most people looking for a clean and stylish workplace.

The model will also be available with as a Limited Edition with a Blu-ray player. There are certainly many of you who are wondering who big this one is and according to AOpen i tmeasures (BxHxD): 165x50x165mm. This is practically the exact same as Apple's Mac mini (165x51x165mm). The big difference is that the AOpen mini PC has some of the features people have been asking for with the mini, for example analog/digital TV tuner.
