SanDisk launches 64GB Solid State Drives
Written by Andreas G 05 June 2007 22:44

SanDisk is one of the most active actors on the SSD market and during Computex it has now presented a new flagship of its SSD family. SanDisk has namely launched new 64GB models of both its 1.8" and 2.5" series. According to SanDisk, the launch comes after requests from PC builders for more storage capacity, especially for systems using Windows Vista. The previous 32GB models simply aren't enough. The new 64GB models will offer a constant read speed at 67MB/s and according to SanDisk, its new Solid-State Drives will have access times at 0.11 ms, about 150 times faster than a mechanical drive (17ms).

SanDiskis expected to start mass producing its new 64GB SSD before the end of the year, which means that they are far from market-ready. If 64GB isn't enough you can always turn to PQI's recently launched 256GB SSD.
