We brought a pair of ASUS Radeon HD 2900 XT to DreamHack Summer 2007 for overclocking and perhaps trying to set some new records, however the cards did not cooperate back then. It's a shame to give up on a product with such potential so Kinc decided to give it another go and this time the cards played along nicely. After some quick tests he was up to par with Elmor's world record and after pushing the CPU some more he managed to break both the world record and 34,000 points.
With the cards overclocked to 880/990MHz (air-cooled) and an Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 at 5341MHz, a pair of Corsair 6400C3 and an ASUS P5W64 WS Pro, Kinc managed to reach 34,126 points in 3DMark 05.
We're still far from the peak of the cards' performance though. I would certainly bet a penny or two that we will see 35,000 soon.
