Hipro breaks 26,000 in 3DMark 06, GeForce 8800 Ultra back on top
Written by Andreas G 28 July 2007 20:42

The Futuremark Hall of Fame has been updated rather frequently during the last few weeks. Elmor, Hipro5, Gautam, Shamino and last Kinc have all submitted world record results that changed the charts. Lately it's been 3DMark 06 that has gotten the most attention as first Shamino submitted a score that was not that far off fraom breaking the magic 26,000. Kinc later followed with an even better score, but was unable to break 26,000 as the motherboards failed on him. Well now the time has come for Hipro5 to return with another Hall of Fame result and this time he has managed to break 26,000; 26,008

Like Shamino he used a pair of GeForce 8800 Ultras to set the new record. Unlike Shamino he managed to push the GPU cores to more than 1GHz, which was also how he managed to break 26,000. The GPUs were running at 1008MHz and the memories at 1224MHz.

Along with the GeForce 8800 Ultras he had an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 running at 4980MHz and a pair of CellShock PC2-9200 at 415MHz (3-3-3). Like all other Hall of Fame results with NVIDIA graphics cards, Hipro5 used the ASUS Striker Extreme to achieve the new record. All powered by his own 1,200W power supply.

According to the man himself >140 liters of liquid nitrogen was consumed in the process.
