Nintendo now the fifth largest company in Japan
Written by Andreas G 28 July 2007 21:35

The success of Wii and Nintendo DS have been close to unimaginable. Nintendo DS and its sibling DS Lite have been around for some time, but the consoles are still selling like crazy and the game sales are through the roof month after month. When the GameCube didn't succeed, Nintendo could always rely on the DS. Then Wii came along and gave Nintendo another gem. Wii have been the undisputed best-selling unit of the newest generation of video game consoles . Eight months after the launch there is still a shortage of console even though Nintendo increased production significantly in March. Back in June Nintendo knocked down Sony form the top ten biggest companies in Japan and now it has climbed up to number five and has a market value of $72 billion USD. Recently Nintendo had to revise its expected operating income and profit, they were simply too low. To be frank, we can't imagine that even Nintendo expected this.
